Thousands of children and adults have had their lives changed through the arts by Mill Street Loft’s programs. The award-winning multi-arts educational center based in Poughkeepsie, NY, has served the mid-Hudson Valley community for 30 years. On Thursday evening, March 4th at the Poughkeepsie Grandview, arts appreciators and supporters will celebrate the center’s 30th anniversary at the annual “Friend of the Arts Awards” event, which benefits Mill Street Loft’s Outreach Programs and Youth Scholarships. This year’s Honorees include: the Community Foundation of Dutchess County, the James J. McCann Charitable Trust and The Jane W. Nuhn Charitable Trust, three area philanthropies, which have provided significant support for Mill Street Loft’s varied and innovative programs and services. The March 4th event will feature: a 30 piece exhibit and silent auction of artworks by professional Hudson Valley artists selected by a distinguished jury; elaborate gourmet foods; and live entertainment, including the multi-talented pianist, Peter Muir and performing artists from Mill Street Loft’s professional faculty. Burt and Miriam Gold, past recipients of the Friend of the Arts Award, are the evening’s honorary co-chairs, and Sarah J. Levine, a film-maker and member of Mill Street Loft’s Board of Directors, is the Event Chair. Many area businesses and individuals are participating as event sponsors and supporters. “We are pleased to have this opportunity to acknowledge the exceptional generosity of our Honorees, which continue to play a major role in allowing us to respond to some of the vital needs in our community through providing creative programs that foster self-expression, support personal growth and enhance the quality of life,” says Mill Street Loft’s Founder and Executive Director, Carole J. Wolf.   For reservations and additional information, please visit www.millstreetloft.org or call 845-471-7477.
