Mill Street Loft’s Winter/Spring Art Courses & Workshops for all ages & abilities in Poughkeepsie & Red Hook begin in February 2010. There is something for everyone: drawing, painting, pottery, puppets, creating with fiber, paper, glass, stone, gems, minerals, mixed media & memoir writing, as well as pre-college portfolio preparation for teens interested in careers in the visual arts. Annual TEEN VISIONS exhibit at Vassar College’s Palmer Gallery on view through February 3. This exhibit features a wide variety paintings, drawings, mixed-media, photography and sculpture created during the Summer and Fall of 2009 by students of The Art Institute of Mill Street Loft, a year-round pre-college portfolio development program for teens interested in a career in the visual arts. SENIOR PROJECT Exhibit Opens at Mill Street Loft’s Gallery, Saturday, February 20, 5:30 pm at 45 Pershing Avenue, Poughkeepsie. It will be on view Mondays-Fridays 9am-5pm and by appointment on weekends through March 13th. The exhibit features drawings and paintings by 7 area high school students who completed a rigorous fall class designed to challenge and prepare them for college studies in the visual arts. Friend of the Arts Awards - Mill Street Loft’s 30th Anniversary Celebration, Thursday, March 4, 5:30 pm at the Poughkeepsie Grandview. Honorees include: The Community Foundation of Dutchess County, James J. McCann Charitable Trust and The Jane W. Nuhn Charitable Trust, for their continuing support of Mill Street Loft’s innovative programs for children and adults. Event includes a Silent Auction of contributed art selected by a professional jury. All proceeds to benefit the youth scholarship fund.
