Thirty Years of Mill Street Loft Celebrated at “Friend Of The Arts Awards”
More than 250 art lovers raised more than $80,000 in support of Outreach Programs & Youth Scholarships

On an almost spring-like Thursday evening at the Poughkeepsie Grandview, community and business leaders, arts appreciators and supporters, and artists of all kinds gathered to celebrate 30 years of Mill Street Loft at the 13th annual “Friend of the Arts Awards” event.

Highlights included:

  • An entertaining powerpoint presentation of 30 years of Mill Street Loft with live accompaniment composed and performed by pianist Peter Muir
  • Presentations to the Honorees: the Community Foundation of Dutchess County, the James J. McCann Charitable Trust and The Jane W. Nuhn Charitable Trust, three area philanthropies which have provided significant support for Mill Street Loft’s varied and innovative programs and services throughout three decades.
  • A special recognition award presentation to Carole J. Wolf, Founder and Executive Director.
  • A silent auction of 30 artworks by professional Hudson Valley artists selected by a distinguished jury from more than 160 pieces submitted.
  • Performances by Mill Street Loft artists and friends.
  • Elaborate gourmet foods and spectacular desserts prepared by the Grandview’s kitchen.

FAO 2010 Art Auction
New this year at the Friend of the Arts Event are 30 juried artworks representing the diversity and quality that is produced  by Hudson Valley area artists and  supported by the Mill Street Loft for the past 30 years.

Selected from over 160 pieces of artwork they are for sale and proceeds benefit Mill Street Lofts outreach programs. This is a great opportunity to purchase a special art piece for your home or office and to support Mill Street Loft at the same time.

To place a bid on an ARTWORK: please email info@millstreetloft.org with the title, artist name, bid amount (under $100, bids are accepted at $20 increments; over $100, bids are accepted at $25 increments), and your name, email, phone and address.

Online bids will be accepted until midnight March 3rd.  Final bidding will be at the event on March 4th starting 5:30pm.

The March 4th event, which will honor the Community Foundation of Dutchess County, the James J. McCann Charitable Trust and the Jane W. Nuhn Charitable Trust, will also feature elaborate gourmet foods and live entertainment, including the multi-talented pianist, Peter Muir and performing artists from Mill Street Loft’s faculty. The 30 artworks in the auction were selected from more than 160 pieces submitted. The panel of jurors included: Steven Evans, Dia Art Foundation, Managing Director, Dia:Beacon; Linda T. Hubbard, a photographer and co-owner of RiverWinds Gallery in Beacon, and filmmaker and art collector, Sarah Levine.

The distinguished Hudson Valley artists whose works were chosen for Mill Street Loft’s 30th Anniversary silent and on-line auction (one for each year of history) are: Jose Acosta, Ryan Cronin, Virginia Donovan, John Fasulo, Kari Feuer, Stacie Flint, Nicole Ganas, Juan Garcia-Nuñez, Mary Ann Glass, Theresa Gooby, Beth Haber, Erica Hauser, Meredith Heuer, Thomas Huber, Todd Jones, Norm Magnusson, Amy Manso, Gregory Martin, Basha Maryanska, Tim McFadden, Lori Nozick, Sara Pfau, J.
