Mill Street Loft founded Chapter 2242 of the National Art Honor Society in 2004.
Started by the National Art Education Association (NAEA) In 1978, the National Art Honor Society (NAHS) inspires and recognizes 10th – 12th graders who have shown an outstanding ability in art. The NAHS strives to aid members in working toward the attainment of their highest potential in art areas and brings art education to the attention of the school and community.
Chapter 2242 strives to help students reach the highest level of professionalism as the begin their pursuit of careers in the arts. Member students do so by volunteering in community service projects, murals, hosting and organizing art events, fundraising to support the local community, and creating and providing venues in which students may showcase their work.
In addition, members organize and participate in trips to museums, galleries, and points of interest. They our leaders in their community, showcasing their work at numerous group and solo exhibits each year.
Projects and activities for the school year include: Regional Portfolio Day, Teen Visions student exhibition, Exposure National Photography Competition, historical site clean-ups, museum trips, and local art advocacy.
