CAMP THEMES

  • July 16-20, The River the Flows Both Ways — Mah-he-ah-kan-tuk
Mah-he-ah-kan-tuk is our beautiful Hudson River. This magnificent river flows in our backyard. Its natural beauty, rich history and folklore continue to provide the inspiration for so many artists. Campers will explore both the natural and imagined life within and around the Hudson River and a wonderful collaboration with Clearwater. Come join us for some zany art making and inventions plus painting, building, fabric dyeing, drama, song, rhythm and foot tapping!
  • July 23-27, Colonial Weekend
Listen to the myths of the good ol’ colonial days and explore the history of Beacon’s colonial waterfront. Who was the legendary Queen of the County? Who sailed the river? Where can you find the fairies and imps hiding? Come and paint in Long Dock Park the waterfront of yesteryear. Imagine yourself dressed in your own pirate’s costume. Build a pirates ship or fairies’ circle or waterfront village! Dance the dance that makes your feet happy and sing the marching songs!
  • July 30-Aug 3, Treasure Trekkers
Secrets and stories whispered in the mists of the Hudson River. Treasure Maps, Trappers, Trackers, Traders, and Pirate Lords and Ladies. Paint with us a bigger than life treasure map! Learn how to create clues for a scavenger hunt map! Try sand casting animal tracks! Make masks, squish clay, and invent your own language to sing!
