Dear Friends of Mill Street Loft,
As we come to the close of 2016, I look back on a year of successful programming and collaborations with our community partners. Over the years, I have seen Mill Street Loft grow from a local grass-roots agency into a flourishing, internationally recognized, multi-arts educational center as my vision surpassed my expectation. Now it is time to share with all of you, our family, friends, supporters and community members, our plans for the future of Mill Street Loft.
I announced at the beginning of the year that I would be transitioning from my position as Executive Director after 36 wonderful years. We are pleased to tell you that two of the Hudson Valley’s leading arts organizations, Mill Street Loft and Spark Media Project, are planning to merge in 2017.
I look forward to continuing to serve our community in a multitude of ways as Nicole Fenichel-Hewitt, Executive Director of Spark Media Project, will head both organizations until the merger is finalized, and we become one entity. With combined missions of fostering self-expression and personal development through the arts, the merging of these two organizations is a natural fit.
I’m very excited about all of the possibilities the merger of our two organizations brings. We will now have the capacity to bring the arts to a wider audience with a greater variety of programming throughout Dutchess County, the Hudson Valley region and beyond. Each organization provides a different set of strengths and resources that will enhance the experience and educational opportunities for those we serve. I have worked closely with Nicole over the years, and I am confident in her abilities to lead this transition and guide the new organization into the future.
We hope you will continue to support us as we move into this new year and new endeavor in “changing lives through the arts.”
Wishing you all joy and peace throughout this holiday season.
