The 2009 Habilidad Program has been revamped in many amazing ways, the most important being an emphasis on Green living. This concept incorporates many varied subjects all of which involves the kids in Habilidad in one of the most important changes necessary to bring about evolving views into the 21st century. Habilidad will be addressing these issues in our Design component with a project recycling plastic bags to create one-of-a-kind handbags and jewelry that can be sold at community events and green fairs.

The production of these pieces makes the students aware of the resources that are wasted in trash heaps that can be better used to make incredible design objects. In our Travel and Tourism component we will visit organic farms, solar energy companies, watershed conservation groups and also calling upon companies that promote green energy to inspire and educate our kids.

The impact of these green concepts not only pushes this younger generation to see the dire need for immediate changes but also makes them aware that they can effect the way their peers look at the community they live in as a place to implement recycling and green job awareness as well as being part of that change in a world perspective.
