Outreach Youth Garner County Executive Praise

Congratulations, MSL Outreach Program Youth!
MSLARTS Outreach Youth Garner County Executive Praise with Summer Youth Employment Program Awards

At this year’s Dutchess County Workforce Investment Board’s (DCWIB) 2012 Summer Youth Employment Program awards ceremony, one fourth of the special recognition awards went to Mill Street Loft Outreach Program graduates.

Project ABLE 2012 participants accepted awards in Leadership – Angelo Alvarado, Positive Attitude – Kiana Buchanan, Demona Messam and Most Improved – Jahasia Nelson. Project ABLE 2010 graduate Jasmine Carmelitano also received the Leadership award, and PASWORD 2007 alumna Martha Contrera-Souffront was invited to return as a SYEP Teacher Assistant next year, an honor extended to only one other student.

Four youth were also selected as speakers to present brief summaries of their summer work experiences; two of those four were ABLE students, Demona Messam and Jason Fearon. In addition, all Outreach Program Alumni were recipients of the special certificates reflecting advanced participation & distinguished work endorsed by Dutchess County Executive Mark Molinaro, who offered the engaging keynote speech.

At the end of this hot and highly competitive job-seeking summer, the work ethics, leadership skills and effective communication tools learned in Project ABLE, Habilidad, PASWORD & Project AWARE showed up in strength among Mill Street Loft’s Outreach Program youth, both current and alumni. Congratulations and hands up to all of you!
