Millbrook Campus, For Ages 4-12
Weekly, July 10 – 21, 2017
Dutchess Day School
Millbrook NY 12545
This beautifully landscaped campus in rural Millbrook offers comfortable studios and performing areas as well as uniquely designed playgrounds and country fields.
Week 1: EARTH Art
You can’t spell “Earth” without “ART!” This week, campers will explore nature and use the natural world as inspiration for our art making. Trees, leaves, insects, animals, and more! What will inspire you this week as we discover and uncover the natural world together?
Week 2: Amazing, Unique ME
This week, our campers will create art based on their own unique experiences, ideas, and personality. Sculpt, paint, design, act, and dance as we celebrate our unique and wonderful differences. “Today you are You, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is Youer than You.” -Dr. Seuss
Our Millbrook DAC Campus has a professional staff of five Performing and Visual Artists. These art disciplines are Dance and Theater, Music, 2-D Design, 3-D Design, Clay. Although we have a weekly theme as our spring board, our professional artists use a “child centered” approach to the arts and art-making. Your child’s unique thoughts, expertise and point of view are the vehicle for growth and imagination. We honor the process behind your child’s wonderful exploration.
3-D Design: We will be building and constructing with a variety of inspiring materials. (Wire, plaster, cardboard, wood and natural found objects)
2-D Design: We may be printmaking, drawing, collaging, painting, photographing, and so much more!
Dance, Music and Theater focus on bringing a multicultural, interdisciplinary interaction, giving your child the opportunity to grow, explore and build new skills. Most of all, they will be having fun and learning how powerful they are as a creator and artist.
Clay Studio: We will be hand building and throwing on the potter’s wheel. Making Friends! During our time together, many collaborative opportunities are given to your child to make friends and create with in a group setting.
Splash Beach and Water Fun! Don’t forget your bathing suit. Our sprinklers and water slide are ready for action. It is a highlight during our day for all ages.
Group Activities! At the end of the day, we always have an exciting activity planned for the whole camp! It may be anything from a Psychedelic Dance Party, Scavenger Hunt to a Big Water Balloon Extravaganza! Whatever we are doing, we are having the best time possible!
