Summer Junior Art Institute


For youth ages 11-14, weekly July 3 – August 4, 2017 in the studios at Dutchess Community College Art Studios, 53 Pendell Road.

This innovative program for motivated students focuses on developing skills in drawing and painting and help aspiring artists prepare for intensive visual arts instruction in high school and beyond. We explore the depth of shape, color, line, texture, space and movement. Parents are invited each Friday afternoon at 3:30pm for arts sharing and exhibition.

9:00 – 12:30 Drawing & Painting Techniques • lunch • 1:30 – 4:30 Drawing & Painting Focus
An advanced foundation course which will explore the principles of art & 2D design. Students work from landscape, still lifes, and more, while exploring representational and abstract forms as they develop higher level of skills. In addition, students explore new techniques and methods in drawing, painting and collage.

Attend more than one session
Every week brings you something different! At the Junior Art Institute, each week features a different Artist/Educator. These artists work to challenge students through various projects, assignments, techniques and inspiring art as unique as the artists themselves. By attending multiple weeks, students enrich their experience by discovering a variety of creative processes.
