The Junior Art Institute

Summer Junior Art Institute, July 2 – August 10, 2012
– for youth ages 11-14 in the studios at Poughkeepsie Day School. This innovative program for motivated students will focus on developing skills in drawing and painting and is designed to help aspiring artists better prepare for intensive visual arts instruction in high school and beyond. Parents are invited each Friday afternoon at 3:30pm for arts sharing and exhibition.

We believe that every student should be given a firm foundation to build upon. Therefore, we explore the depth of shape, color, line, texture, space and movement as well as the importance of conceptualism. Students are encouraged to build their skills while becoming well-rounded and diversified in the visual arts. The program is developed by Todd Poteet, Director of the Art Institute of Mill Street Loft and instructed by a team of professional artist / educators.
